10 Ideas Series Covers / Client: Roosevelt Institute
Update (2013 Defense and Diplomacy and Energy and Environment Covers)
New covers for the 2013 Roosevelt Institute | Campus Network's 10 Ideas series. The first illustrates the issue of the UNHCR moving towards a clearer definition of what a "refugee" is. In the future, this will allow the UNHCR to better protect and render aid to contemporary displaced peoples. The second deals with the issue of cities' reliance on watersheds as their sources of drinkable water, and combines imagery of a lake and forest with the imagery of an urban canyon.
2012 10 Ideas Covers
Covers designed for the Roosevelt Institute | Campus Network's 10 Ideas series, a collection of policy pieces written by university students and which present "an inspiring exemplar of our generation's unique propensity to engage with and accept the responsibility of today's complex and interconnected challenges." The series features six journals covering topics in Energy and Environment, Health Care, Defense and Diplomacy, Education, Equal Justice, and Economic Development.
Cover designs were inspired by the featured article in each journal and created in Blender: the Energy and Environment cover represents the challenges of climate change and the green technologies that can help societies to overcome them, while the cover of the Health Care journal uses hospital imagery to illustrate the idea that existing biotech research and hard data should be published more quickly, but is currently released to the public in a slow drip.
Wire-renders below detail the process for illustrating two of the covers in Blender.
